Our History

In 1937, John McGreevy, MD started a General Surgery medical practice in Mitchell, South Dakota. He moved the practice to Sioux Falls in 1946.

Two years later, Dr. John McGreevy was joined by his brother, Ed McGreevy, MD, specializing in General Surgery. Then in 1962, Drs. Ed and John McGreevy moved their practice from downtown to the Avera McKennan campus.

In 1965, they were joined by Dr. Elkjer, specializing in Family Practice. Dr. Barnett, specializing in Family Practice, joined the group in 1968. In 1969, Dr. Naughton, specializing in Internal Medicine, and Dr. Pat McGreevy, specializing in General Surgery, joined the group.

In 1973, we moved to our current main location at 1200 South 7th Avenue and have since expanded to over 50 providers and six locations in South Dakota.
